SAINT ROSE EDGED 1-0 BY NYIT

Senior midfielder Taras Panchishak hit the post in the 30th minute that would have provided the equalizer
Box Score OLD WESTBURY, NY – Host New York Institute of Technology struck in the 17th minute for the game's lone tally to secure a 1-0 non-conference victory over The College of Saint Rose this afternoon at President's Stadium. It marked the fourth time in five contests the Golden Knights were defeated by a mere one goal.

Sophomore midfielder Vinny Cacavale finished off a feed from freshman midfielder Dominic Iovino with 16:06 elapsed to decide the final outcome. Iovino initially forced Saint Rose senior keeper Patrik Ohlsson to vacate his line, which allowed Cacavale to take advantage of an open net. The Bears (3-0-1) generated a 17-4 margin in shots and also produced four corner kicks, while yielding one.

Saint Rose (0-5-0) nearly found the equalizer in the 30th minute. Senior midfielder Taras Panchishak rifled a shot that hit the post, but the Golden Knights immediately kept up the pressure and earned a corner kick. However, freshman forward Jeff Kozlowski's header was denied by NYIT freshman netminder Liam Waddy to keep Saint Rose at bay.

Ohlsson wound up with five saves to keep the Golden Knights within striking distance throughout the afternoon.

Both squads return to action this Saturday. Saint Rose gets back to its Northeast-10 Conference schedule as the Golden Knights host Saint Michael's College at 3:30 pm. Meanwhile, NYIT welcomes Lincoln University for a 2:30 pm non-conference encounter.
