Box Score ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose used a balanced attack that struck both early and late en route to a 10-0 non-conference victory against visiting New York Institute of Technology tonight at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex. The Golden Knights, who are #3 in the NSCAA/Continental Tire preseason poll, lived up to their billing by putting up 10 goals for the first time in exactly nine years. The last time Saint Rose accomplished the feat was on September 1, 2002 behind an identical 10-0 triumph over Concordia.

As for tonight, the Golden Knights (1-0) struck four times within the first 13 minutes of the second period to break open a game that stood 3-0 at halftime. Saint Rose controlled the pace throughout and wound up outshooting the Bears (0-1) by a 22-2 margin. The Golden Knights also produced 11 corner kicks and yielded only two.

Freshman forward Brittany Barry registered a hat trick in her Saint Rose debut. Another rookie in freshman forward Cenayda Guzman also stood out with two goals and one assist.

Sophomore Jessica Gerski and freshman Lauren Minkoff each played a half between the posts for the Golden Knights. They were not forced to make a save.

Sophomore midfielder Sydney Bond got the scoring started for Saint Rose via a header 6:55 into the contest. Junior forward Aoife Herbert, sophomore forward Carmelina Puopolo and sophomore midfielder Allison Schmidt accounted for the other three markers.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose makes the trek west to New Mexico Highlands for a non-conference encounter at 9:00 pm (EDT) Saturday in Las Vegas, NM. The Cowgirls advanced to last year's NCAA Tournament on the strength of a 12-7-2 overall mark. NYIT is scheduled to welcome Post University to Old Westbury for its 2011 home-opener at 1:00 pm Sunday.
