CLERMONT, FL – The College of Saint Rose softball team split a pair of games to close out its nine-game swing to Florida today. The Golden Knights upended New York Institute of Technology 7-1 this morning and then fell 13-5 versus Nyack College to cap their stint.
Saint Rose (3-6) broke open a 1-1 ballgame with six runs in the sixth to pull away from NYIT. Sophomore second baseman
Michelle Schroll delivered the big blow with a three-run triple. Meanwhile, freshman center fielder
Amber Loussedes and sophomore
Rosalie Serra each came up with a pair of RBI singles.
Junior right-hander
Courtney Galuski surrendered just two hits and recorded a like number of strikeouts over 4.1 innings of work for the Golden Knights. Galuski gave way to junior left-hander
Sarah Arbogast, who was credited with the win. Senior right-hander
Nicole Traylor tossed a scoreless sixth and seventh inning as well.
Freshman right fielder
Olivia Reeves continued her early tear by going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Loussedes wound up 3-for-5 with a double, two singles and an RBI as well.
In game two, Nyack put up seven runs throughout the first two innings to give itself a comfortable cushion. Regardless, Saint Rose junior shortstop
Kayla Kuilema wound up 2-for-3 with a single and a three-run triple in the third. Reeves finished 1-for-2 with a double.
The Golden Knights will now turn their attention to their Northeast-10 Conference schedule. First, Saint Rose will head to Post University one week from today for a non-league twin-bill in Waterbury, CT. The Golden Knights will open up league play on Saturday, March 26 at the University of New Haven.
