GOLDEN KNIGHTS FALL TO WEST CHESTER; #16 LOCK HAVEN AT NTC SPRING GAMES

Junior left-hander Sarah Arbogast fanned seven batters and walked none in 6.0 innings of work against West Chester
CLERMONT, FL – The College of Saint Rose softball team suffered a pair of setbacks today at the 2011 NTC Spring Games in Clermont, FL. West Chester University pulled out a 5-2 victory over the Golden Knights in today's opener and then #16 Lock Haven University sealed a 4-3 triumph with a run in the bottom of the seventh to take game two.

West Chester (6-7) spoiled a solid pitching performance from junior left-hander Sarah Arbogast by plating four runs in the top of the seventh to break open a 1-0 ballgame. Arbogast wound up fanning seven batters and did not yield a walk in 6.0 innings of work.

Saint Rose (2-5) tried to answer in its final at-bat behind freshman right fielder Olivia Reeves, who continued her standout southern swing. Reeves belted her third home run of the year with a solo shot to get the Golden Knights on the board. Sophomore catcher Rachel Reed then scored on a fielder's choice by junior third baseman Jessica Butterbrodt, but that was all the offense Saint Rose could muster.

Reeves and Reed each went 1-for-3 in the contest. Meanwhile, freshman center fielder Amber Loussedes added a single in the opening frame.

In game two, the Golden Knights trailed 3-2 entering the top of the seventh. However, Loussedes slapped a two-out double and sophomore second baseman Michelle Schroll reached on an error. Loussedes subsequently came around to score after advancing on the throw to knot things 3-3.

Lock Haven (11-2) proved to be too much in its own half of the inning. Sophomore catcher Alicia Cacciotti started things off with a double and then sophomore outfielder Kelsey Mullins delivered a single to put Saint Rose in arrears. The Lady Eagles then took advantage of a costly Saint Rose error that forced Cacciotti across with the winning run.

The Golden Knights are scheduled to close out their stint at the 2011 NTC Spring Games tomorrow morning with a pair of games on tap. Saint Rose will meet New York Institute of Technology at 9:30 am before entertaining Nyack College at 11:30 am.
