SAINT ROSE REGISTERS 20TH VICTORY WITH 64-49 TRIUMPH VERSUS LE MOYNE ON SENIOR NIGHT

Saint Rose celebrated "Senior Night" with a 64-49 victory against Northeast-10 Conference rival Le Moyne tonight.
ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose celebrated “Senior Night” in appropriate fashion by registering its 20th victory of the year with a 64-49 triumph against visiting Northeast-10 Conference rival Le Moyne this evening at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.

In the process, Saint Rose earned a first-round bye and will thus host an NE-10 Tournament quarterfinal game this Tuesday, March 1 versus either 12th seed Saint Anselm or fifth seed Pace University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

As for tonight, Saint Rose wound up shooting 52.0 percent (26-for-50) from the floor, outrebounded Le Moyne by a 35-26 margin, and put four players in double-figures scoring for the seventh time this year.

Senior forward Amy Voelkel tossed in a career-high 17 points, on 8-for-11 shooting, and hauled in six rebounds; while senior guard Lynsey Timbrouck nearly registered a “triple-double” behind 10 points, eight boards and nine assists for the Golden Knights. Timbrouck also came up with four steals to boot.

Saint Rose jumped out to a 19-3 lead eight minutes in and was never really threatened en route to its sixth straight win, and 10th in the last 12 outings. The Golden Knights (20-6/16-6 NE-10) walked into the locker room with a 33-19 advantage at the break and led by as many as 23 points, 60-37, with 4:57 remaining after Timbrouck drilled a 3-pointer as the shot clock ticked towards zero.

Junior guard Ashley Rath and junior forward Ali Johnson rounded out the quartet of twin-figure scorers for the Golden Knights. Rath tossed in 16 points, while Johnson wound up with 10 points throughout 22 minutes of reserve action. Also, senior guard Rachel Coryea had a career-high seven points.

Junior guard Morgan Rowland and center Courtney Coryea, a graduate student, led Le Moyne (7-19/4-18 NE-10). Morgan scored 17 points, while Coryea wound up with 16.

Voelkel, Timbrouck, Coryea, and senior forward Liz Tremblay were all honored with a brief pregame ceremony in recognition of their outstanding careers. The four players have been a part of Saint Rose teams that have won 74 games to date.
