SAINT ROSE WINS NINTH STRAIGHT AT HOME WITH 69-42 WIN VERSUS NEW HAVEN

Senior forward Amy Voelkel finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists to help lead Saint Rose past New Haven tonight.
ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose won its ninth straight home game and fourth overall with a 69-42 victory against Northeast-10 Conference rival New Haven tonight at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Golden Knights turned 24 New Haven turnovers into 26 points and outrebounded the Chargers by a 15-8 margin on the offensive glass.

Senior forward Amy Voelkel finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists in just 21 minutes of action, while junior guard Ashley Rath tossed in a game-high 21 points throughout 25 minutes for Saint Rose (18-6/14-6 NE-10), which had 12 players log at least seven minutes.

Saint Rose jumped out to a 15-5 lead with 14:55 remaining in the first half and led by at least 20 points throughout the game's final 19 minutes to chalk up its 18th triumph of the season with two regular-season contests remaining.

Senior guard Dominique Stellmacher paced New Haven (2-22/1-19 NE-10) with 17 points, before fouling out with 10 minutes remaining. Freshman guard Audrey Cunningham and senior forward Lauren Boivin added seven points apiece.

Junior forward Ali Johnson had nine points and five rebounds, while senior guard Lynsey Timbrouck had seven assists to go with six points and a like number of rebounds for the Golden Knights. In the process, Johnson moved into a tie (Patty McNeill 1984-87) for 10th place on the College's blocked shots list with 79, while Timbrouck boosted her school record assists total to 566.

Looking ahead, both teams have 1:30 pm conference road dates scheduled for Saturday. The Golden Knights will travel to New Haven to meet Southern Connecticut State, while the Chargers will head to Pleasantville to face Pace University.
