SAINT ROSE BACK IN NE-10 TOURNAMENT

Saint Rose will host fifth-seed American International in an NE-10 Quarterfinal match at 7:00 pm tonight
ALBANY - The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team embarks on its Northeast-10 Conference Tournament run tonight when the Golden Knights host fifth-seed American International College in a quarterfinal contest at 7:00 pm at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. Admission to the game will be $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens, children under 12 and Saint Rose employees with an ID. Admission is free for Saint Rose students with a valid ID.

The Series against American Int'l
The Yellow Jackets own a 12-6 advantage in the all-time series against the Golden Knights. The two clubs have split each of the past six meetings, with each side winning three matches respectively. Additionally, tonight marks the first time the two clubs will meet in the NE-10 Tournament. 

Last Meeting (September 20, 2011)
Saint Rose recorded an impressive .314 hitting percentage on the way to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-17) NE-10 victory over visiting American International back on September 20. The Golden Knights committed only 11 errors in 86 swings, while the Yellow Jackets were hampered by 22 errors of their own.

Saint Rose hit a collective .363 behind 26 kills against just seven attack errors in 53 attempts over the first two sets to build a commanding 2-0 lead. The Golden Knights then raced out to a 7-3 advantage in the third set and never trailed.

Senior outside hitters Sarah Kahrs and Aubrey Bobo proved to be a formidable tandem all evening. Kahrs led Saint Rose in kills with a match-high 13. She also collected eight digs. Meanwhile, Bobo registered 12 kills, six digs and a pair of blocks.

The Yellow Jackets received 10 kills from senior outside hitter Ellisha Terry. Junior libero Seferina Starks sparked the defense with 10 digs.
 
Scouting Saint Rose (16-8)
The Golden Knights are making their first appearance in the NE-10 Tournament since 2007 on the strength of a fourth place finish in the final league standings. Saint Rose was picked to finish 13th according to the NE-10 preseason poll, which was conducted by a vote from the league's 16 head coaches.

The Golden Knights are currently riding a five-match winning streak after closing out the regular season with a 3-0 win at Merrimack on Saturday. Saint Rose has reached 16-wins for the fifth time under head coach Brian Goodale, who is in his 13th year at the helm of the Golden Knights.

Bobo and Kahrs have been the top-two options for Saint Rose offensively. Bobo has registered 285 kills for an average of 3.80 kills per-set. The latter ranks second in the conference. She is furthermore hitting .368, which also represents the second-highest hitting percentage in the league. Kahrs has contributed 239 kills for an average of 2.63 kills per-set.

A trio of freshmen have also put together solid campaigns thus far. Freshman setter Ariana Wilson and freshman defensive specialist Tori Daniels have run the offense to the tune of 491 and 391 assists respectively. Wilson has also served up a team-high 34 aces, while Daniels has 151 digs and 33 aces. Freshman libero Katy Daniels has been solid in the back row. Katy is third in the NE-10 behind 4.49 digs per-set (413 digs).

Scouting American Int'l (15-16)
The Yellow Jackets are making their fourth straight appearance in the NE-10 Tournament this evening. American International is coming off a 3-2 setback at Southern New Hampshire on Friday.

The Yellow Jackets are one of the top defensive squads in the league at this juncture behind a collective 15.57 digs per-set, which represents the third-highest average in the conference.

Sophomore middle blocker Blair Havron and Terry have produced 272 and 243 kills to lead the attack. Havron is also the league's fourth-leading hitter (.288). Terry has also coupled with Nikki Naccarato to handle the setting duties. Terry has passed out 504 assists, while Naccarato has 442 assists.
