GOLDEN KNIGHTS OUTLAST FRANKLIN PIERCE 99-94 IN OVERTIME SHOOTOUT

Junior guard Shea Bromirski's go-ahead 3-pointer with 18 seconds left in overtime helped Saint Rose get by Franklin Pierce
ALBANY – Junior guard Shea Bromirski canned a 3-pointer with 18 seconds remaining in overtime that put The College of Saint Rose ahead for good in a 99-94 Northeast-10 Conference victory over Franklin Pierce University this evening at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Golden Knights snapped a mild two-game skid in the process and have now won 15 straight meetings between the two clubs.

Bromirski broke a 94-94 deadlock after creating some space off the dribble and burying one of his five, 3-pointers from the top of the key. Saint Rose then created a turnover at the other end and sophomore forward Devin Grimes made it a two possession ballgame with four seconds left by knocking down a pair of free throws. Grimes' perfect trip to the line capped the highest point total for the Golden Knights (10-4/5-4 NE-10) this season. They had averaged a mere 51.0 points throughout their last two games.

Bromirski led all scorers with 23 points. Meanwhile, sophomore guard Andre Pope finished with season-highs of 22 points and eight assists while tossing in six, 3-pointers of his own. Junior guard Rob Gutierrez added 19 points in 24 minutes despite battling foul trouble all night.

Sophomore guard Eric Jean-Guillaume led four players in double-figures for the Ravens (4-10/2-7 NE-10) with 19 points. Senior guard Kinard Dozier contributed 16 points and seven assists.

Neither club generated more than a six-point advantage, and the lead changed 23 times throughout the contest. Jean-Guilaume knotted things 85-85 with a jumper from the right wing with 1:34 left in regulation. Both squads came up empty on their next possession before Bromirski nearly won the game with 27 seconds on the clock. However, his 3-point attempt was halfway down and rolled along the back of the rim before Jean-Guillaume secured the rebound. Franklin Pierce was unable to get a clean look as the second half buzzer sounded.

Saint Rose connected on a season-high 15, 3-pointers to offset a 19-6 deficit in second chance points. The Golden Knights furthermore shot 54.1 percent (33-for-61) from the floor, its highest shooting percentage in the last seven games.

Up next, Saint Rose heads to Southern New Hampshire University Wednesday night for a 7:30 pm league date in Manchester, NH. Meanwhile, the Ravens return home to host the University of New Haven at 7:30 pm Tuesday.
