GOLDEN KNIGHTS SHOOT PAST HOST SAINT MICHAEL'S TO RUN ROAD RECORD TO 6-2

Senior guard Lynsey Timbrouck fell two rebounds shy of a "triple-double" to lead the Golden Knights past Saint Michael's tonight.
COLCHESTER, VT – The College of Saint Rose shot a season-high 50.0 percent (22-for-44) from the floor to upend host Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Michael's 72-67 tonight at the Ross Sports Center. In the process, the Golden Knights (9-3/5-3 NE-10) improved to 6-2 on the road and have now won five of their last six contests.

Senior guard Lynsey Timbrouck came two rebounds shy of a “triple-double” to pace the Golden Knights, who had four players in double-figures scoring. Timbrouck tossed in 16 points, handed out 10 assists and hauled in eight caroms; while junior guard Ola Shajuyigbe recorded 18 points. She also tied her career-high with eight boards and passed around a pair of assists.

Saint Rose led wire-to-wire and walked into the locker room with a six point, 32-26, advantage at the break. The Golden Knights then scored 17 of the first 27 points in the second half to boost their margin to 13, 49-36, with 14:41 remaining after senior forward Amy Voelkel drained the second of two free throws.

Saint Michael's (4-6/2-5 NE-10) made it interesting down the stretch by holding Saint Rose to a field goal throughout the final five minutes. Sophomore guard Megan Olsen hit a jumper and sophomore forward Nicole Adach followed a Saint Rose turnover with a 3-pointer that made it 67-64 Golden Knights with 1:32 remaining. However, Voelkel delivered the final dagger with a trey of her own at the other end.

Shajuyigbe then sealed it with a pair from the stripe in the final 11 seconds after Saint Michael's came up empty on two consecutive possessions.

Junior guard Ashley Rath and Voelkel rounded out the quartet of twin-figures point producers for Saint Rose. Rath tossed in 14 points, while Voelkel wound up with 11 points, five rebounds and a pair of steals.

Adach posted a “double-double” via 15 points and 10 boards to pace Saint Michael's. Senior forward Logan Pintka and junior guard Coreen Hennessy tossed in 11 points apiece, while Olsen finished with eight points throughout 15 minutes off the bench.

Looking ahead, both clubs have league contests scheduled for Saturday. The Golden Knights will host Franklin Pierce at 1:30 pm, while Saint Michael's will travel to Syracuse for a 1:00 pm meeting at Le Moyne.
