ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose opened the Dr. R. Mark and Kathleen Sullivan Field at the Christian Plumeri Sports Complex in style with a 7-0 non-conference victory against Holy Family this afternoon.
The Golden Knights (1-0-0), ranked #3 in the NSCAA/Adidas Division II preseason poll, scored four times throughout a 16-minute span early in the second period to break open a game that stood 2-0 at halftime. Saint Rose controlled the pace throughout and wound up outshooting the Tigers (0-1-0) by an 18-5 margin. The Golden Knights also produced nine corner kicks, and yielded only three.

Christina Cuffari had two goals and an assist to lead the Saint Rose attack. Freshman forward
Carmelina Puopolo etched herself in the Golden Knights record book by tallying the first goal on the team's new synthetic field. Puopolo lofted a ball from deep near the left end line that sailed under the crossbar. Another rookie in freshman midfielder
Sydney Bond also stood out with a goal and an assist.
Senior keeper
Deanna Esposito made three saves to record her third shutout in four career starts for Saint Rose.

Up next, the Golden Knights are scheduled to return home Monday for a Labor Day non-conference matinee versus Mercy College. Kick-off is set for 1:00 pm. Meanwhile, Holy Family has a 1:00 pm non-league date at Stonehill College in Easton, MA tomorrow.
