WALTHAM, MA – The College of Saint Rose women's tennis team had its unbeaten streak come to a halt as host Bentley University delivered an 8-1 Northeast-10 Conference victory over the Golden Knights this afternoon. The Falcons remained undefeated on the year after earning their second straight sweep over a conference opponent.
A quartet of Bentley (2-0/2-0 NE-10) players registered a pair of victories today led by sophomore Rachel Litton.
Sophomore
Jennifer Crego came away with the Golden Knights lone point via a 6-4, 6-2 victory at #1 singles versus Bentley sophomore Paulina Sotomayer. Meanwhile, Litton and Sotomayer teamed up to hand senior
Missy Leighton and junior
Erin Reeg an 8-4 setback at #1 doubles.
Junior Kara Murphy also excelled for the Falcons at #2 singles and #2 doubles. Murphy upended Leighton 6-3, 6-2 and then was part of an 8-3 victory over Crego and senior
Kimberly Schacher in doubles play.
Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are scheduled to host their lone home match this Fall next Saturday when they welcome Stonehill College to Albany for a league match beginning at noon. Bentley also returns to action next Saturday when the Falcons visit Pace University for an 11:00 am NE-10 affair in Pleasantville, NY.
