GOLDEN KNIGHTS HAVE FOUR-GAME WIN STREAK SNAPPED IN HEARTBREAKER

Junior catcher Nikki Woodard had a home run in each game, including her team-leading fifth of the year in the nightcap
RINDGE, NH – The College of Saint Rose softball team won its fourth in a row via a 3-2 victory over host Franklin Pierce University in the opener of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader today. However, the Ravens (13-18/8-10 NE-10) put a halt to what amounted to a season-high win streak for the Golden Knights (8-20/6-12 NE-10) after getting a walk-off single in the nightcap to come away with a 4-3 triumph.

Sophomore left-hander Sarah Arbogast and junior right-hander Nicole Traylor combined for seven strikeouts in game one for Saint Rose. Traylor improved to 5-2 in the circle after allowing two runs in 4.0 innings of work. Arbogast tossed 3.0 innings of shutout ball while yielding two hits in relief.

Junior catcher Nikki Woodard got the Golden Knights on the board early with a two-run blast in the top of the first. After Franklin Pierce answered with a run in the bottom of the frame, sophomore second baseman Kayla Kuilema smacked an RBI double in the third that scored freshman right fielder Steph Luce to make it a 3-1 affair.

The Ravens got a homer of their own from freshman catcher Jessica Furtado in the bottom of the third to cut their deficit to one, 3-2. However, Arbogast and Traylor allowed four hits the rest of the way and stranded six runners to propel Saint Rose.

Woodard, Kuilema and Luce each wound up with two hits to lead the Golden Knights. Furtado and freshman shortstop Aimee Lamoureaux each had a home run to pace Franklin Pierce.

Saint Rose found itself in a 3-0 hole in game two, but Kuilema came through with an RBI single and Woodard followed with her team-leading fifth round tripper of the year on a two-run shot to center field that knotted things 3-3 in the fifth.

Sophomore right-hander Jessica Wiley held the Golden Knights to just one hit over the final two innings and sophomore outfielder Jayme Bilafer lined a two-out RBI single to left center, thus propelling the Ravens.

Kuilema again had two hits as did senior first baseman Lauren Ruggerio and sophomore left fielder Lindsey David. Sophomore third baseman Meaghan O'Neal wound up 2-for-2 with a three-run homer for Franklin Pierce.

Saint Rose is scheduled to wrap up an eight-game road trip Wednesday afternoon with a league twin-bill at Adelphi University beginning at 3:00 pm. The Ravens host Southern New Hampshire University at 3:00 pm Wednesday in another NE-10 tilt.
