SYRACUSE – Junior
Missy Leighton won for the second time in her last three matches with a victory at the second singles flight for The College of Saint Rose, which fell 8-1 at Northeast-10 Conference rival Le Moyne this afternoon.
Leighton came up with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph against senior Allison Cohen to account for the Saint Rose point. Also, freshman
Sarah Klein won seven games in a 6-3, 6-4 loss in the sixth flight to Le Moyne sophomore Elizabeth Rhode.
In doubles action, freshman
Jennifer Crego and junior
Kimberly Schacher forced 13 games in an 8-5 setback to senior Mariello Aretessa and sophomore Caroline Tisdell at the number two flight; and sophomores
Valeria Bianchi and
Stephanie Belz went to 12 games in the third flight with an 8-4 defeat at the hands of freshman Rebecca Black and junior Megan Andolina.
Up next, Saint Rose will close out its 2009-10 season Saturday when the Golden Knights are scheduled to host NE-10 rival New Haven at noon. Meanwhile, Le Moyne has an 11:00 am conference match Saturday at Adelphi University on Long Island.
