SAINT ROSE GETS SEVERAL OUTSTANDING EFFORTS IN SETBACK TO SAINT ANSELM

Junior Missy Leighton won six games in a tough setback at second singles in today's match versus Saint Anselm.
ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose suffered an 8-1 setback to visiting Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Anselm today. The Golden Knights (2-10/2-9 NE-10) came up with a point at the top singles flight as Saint Anselm senior Ginny Dalrymple was forced to retire in her match with Saint Rose freshman Jennifer Crego.

The Golden Knights did got outstanding performances from junior Missy Leighton and sophomore Stephanie Belz. Leighton won six games in a 6-4, 6-2 setback to junior Erika Sartor at the number two singles spot, while Belz won seven games in a 6-3, 6-4 defeat at the hands of freshman Alyssa Marciniak at the number five position.

Furthermore, Crego and junior Kimberly Schacher had a hard-fought 8-5 loss to Alexandra Lawrence and Marciniak at the second doubles flight.

Up next, Saint Rose is scheduled to visit NE-10 rival Le Moyne for a 3:00 pm match in Syracuse on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Saint Anselm has a 3:30 pm conference match at Assumption College in Worcester, MA on Tuesday as well.
