MT. KISCO, NY – The College of Saint Rose women's tennis team won its first three singles matches, but host Pace University took two out of three meetings in doubles action to go along with three singles flights of its own to earn a slim 5-4 Northeast-10 Conference victory over the Golden Knights this afternoon. All contests were played at the Saw Mill Club in Mt. Kisco.
Freshman
Jennifer Crego and junior
Kimberly Schacher teamed up for an 8-5 win over Pace freshmen Danielle Sidoti and Danielle Gore at second doubles. The duo has now won four in a row to improve to 5-1 on the year.
Crego furthermore evened her league record at 4-4 following a 6-2, 6-1 decision over senior Joana-Theresa Augustine at #1 singles. Meanwhile, Schacher delivered a straight set 6-1, 6-1 victory over sophomore Yomara Lopez in third singles action.
Also for Saint Rose (1-8/1-7 NE-10), junior
Missy Leighton upended senior Kaylee Andersen 6-1, 6-4 from the #2 position.
The Golden Knights return to league action Friday evening when they head to Southern New Hampshire University for a 4:00 pm NE-10 affair in Manchester, NH. The Setters (1-7/1-6 NE-10) are set to host Saint Anselm College at 1:00 pm Thursday.
