#3 GOLDEN KNIGHTS REMAIN UNDEFEATED

Sophomore midfielder Christina Cuffari was one of four players to figure in the scoring column for Saint Rose today.
ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose, ranked #3 for the second consecutive week in the most recent NSCAA/Adidas Division II Poll, kept its unblemished record intact with a 4-1 victory against visiting Northeast-10 Conference rival New Haven at The Albany Academies today. Saint Rose had six different players figure in the scoring column and outshot the Chargers by a 13-5 margin. The Golden Knights also produced 12 corners, while yielding only a pair.

Saint Rose (6-0/4-0 NE-10) went ahead 1-0 in the opening 10 minutes, and then added three more goals in the second half before the Chargers (5-3/2-3 NE-10) got on the board by converting a penalty kick in the waning stages.

Sophomore forward Brittany Godin, senior midfielder Deanna Wachtel, sophomore forward Gianna D'Errico, and sophomore midfielder Christina Cuffari all scored for the Golden Knights. Meanwhile, sophomore back Ali Espanol converted the PK for New Haven after a hand ball in the box.

In goal, sophomore keeper Susan Cowan and junior Deanna Esposito each played a half and made four saves collectively for Saint Rose. Sophomore Kim Taylor turned aside three on-target threats for the Chargers.

Godin set the tone early on by gathering a loose near the top of the box and firing home a shot with just 8:44 elapsed on the clock

Wachtel and D'Errico then scored eight minutes apart in the initial stages of the second period. Wachtel rifled a shot from 30-yards out on the left flank that squeezed inside the near post for what proved to be the game-winner at the 59:43 mark. Saint Rose then made some nifty one-touch passing in the box that allowed D'Errico to deflect home the third goal while standing at the right post.

Cuffari made it 4-0 Saint Rose by finishing from 12-yards out with 76:25 gone in the contest.

Up next, the Golden Knights return to the road for a 1:00 pm kickoff at league rival Merrimack on Saturday in North Andover, MA Meanwhile, New Haven is scheduled to host NE-10 foe Franklin Pierce on Sunday, also at 1:00 pm.
