PACE COMES AWAY WITH 7-2 WIN OVER SAINT ROSE

Freshman Nicole Terribile
PLEASANTVILLE, NY – The College of Saint Rose women's tennis team was handed its third straight setback this afternoon as host Pace University defeated the Golden Knights 7-2 in Northeast-10 Conference action. The win allowed the Setters (3-8/3-8 NE-10) to snap a mild two-game home losing skid of their own.

Saint Rose freshman Nicole Terribile won for the second time in four outings after going the distance in a 6-2, 3-6, 12-10 triumph over freshman Carla Gross. It turned out to be the lone singles win of the evening for the Golden Knights (3-13/2-8 NE-10) as sophomore Melissa Leighton was unable to win her tiebreaker in the second position, falling 4-6, 6-3, 3-6 to junior Joana-Theresa Augustine.

In doubles play, junior Rachael O'Brien teamed up with sophomore Stephanie Belz to defeat Gross and junior Kaylee Anderson 9-7.

The Golden Knights will play their final home match of the 2008-09 campaign Saturday when Franklin Pierce University arrives in Albany for a 12:00 pm league affair. Meanwhile, Pace will have nine days to prepare for a 3:00 pm encounter versus the University of New Haven next Thursday in Pleasantville.
