MERRIMACK UPENDS SAINT ROSE 8-1

Freshman Ericia Edwards
ALBANY – Merrimack College swept all three doubles matches and never looked back to take an 8-1 Northeast-10 Conference victory over The College of Saint Rose women's tennis team this afternoon. All matches were played indoors on the campus of the University at Albany.

The Golden Knights (3-11/2-6 NE-10) received their lone triumph of the afternoon in the No. 5 singles position as freshman Ericia Edwards handed freshman Courtney Garvey a 9-8 (7-5) setback.

Garvey was successful on the doubles side by teaming up with junior Cristina Lucin to take an 8-1 victory over Saint Rose junior Rachael O'Brien and freshman Stephanie Belz.

The Warriors (4-3/3-0 NE-10), who remained unbeaten in league play, also received a pair of wins from junior Caitlin Dunn and sophomores Amanda Carroll and Stellina Saia.

The Golden Knights have a pair of road matches coming up this week beginning Wednesday when they head to upstate rival Le Moyne College for an NE-10 encounter in Syracuse. Meanwhile, Merrimack will travel to league rival Stonehill College Friday for a 3:00 pm match in Easton, MA.
