SPRINGFIELD, MA – The College of Saint Rose women's tennis team snapped a seven-match skid this afternoon behind a 7-2 Northeast-10 Conference victory at American International College. The Golden Knights (3-10/2-5 NE-10) took five of six singles matches and came away with decisions in two of three doubles encounters to walk away with the win.

Junior Rachael O'Brien and freshman Stephanie Belz got things going for Saint Rose by taking an 8-5 triumph over seniors Kelly Mateus and Krysten Irzyk. Meanwhile, freshman Kimberly Schacher and Ericia Edwards won their match at third doubles by a walkover.

In singles play, Schacher took care of Irzyk 6-1, 6-4 from the No. 4 position and freshman Nicole Terribile was a 6-1, 6-1 winner versus American International freshman Sabrina Cruz.

Additionally, Saint Rose sophomore Melissa Leighton rallied from a set down to defeat senior Tyler Rockefeller 6-7 (7-4), 6-2, 10-4 and classmate Stephanie Paine was a straight set winner at third singles.

The Golden Knights are back on the court tomorrow when they return to Albany to host Merrimack College in league action. The match is set to get underway at 12:00 pm indoors at the University at Albany. The Yellow Jackets will have a few days to prepare for a 3:00 pm non-conference match at Holy Cross Wednesday.
