#2 SAINT ROSE TIES SCHOOL SHUTOUT RECORD IN NE-10 QUARTERFINAL WIN

Sophomore midfielder Brittany Godin recorded her fourth strike of the year at the 19:28 mark for the game-winner
LOUDONVILLE, NY – The College of Saint Rose women's soccer team advanced to its eighth straight Northeast-10 Conference Tournament semifinal on the strength of a 1-0 win versus eighth-seed New Haven this afternoon at Siena College. The Golden Knights (19-0), who eliminated the Chargers (10-7-3) from the league tournament for the second consecutive year, also chalked up their 15th shutout of the year to tie the school record that was set during the 2007 campaign.

Saint Rose will now host fourth-seed Merrimack College at 1:00 pm Thursday in a semifinal encounter. The Warriors advanced after defeating fifth-seed Adelphi University 5-4 in a shootout after the two clubs played to a 1-1 double-overtime draw. It also marks the second time in three years Merrimack and the Golden Knights will meet with a trip to league championship game on the line.

Sophomore midfielder Brittany Godin provided just enough firepower for second-ranked Saint Rose to keep its unblemished record intact this afternoon. Godin collected a feed from sophomore forward Gianna D'Errico, made a move around the keeper and finished into the open net from eight-yards out at the 19:28 mark for her fourth strike of the year.

Sophomore keeper Susan Cowan was solid between the posts for the Golden Knights. Cowan stopped eight shots on target, including five in the first half to help Saint Rose register its 12th clean sheet within the past 13 games. New Haven sophomore keeper Kim Taylor also collected eight saves, four in each period.

The Golden Knights generated a slim 12-11 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks even though both squads had numerous opportunities to capitalize throughout the afternoon. Cowan was forced to make a kick save midway through the second half to keep the Chargers off the board. Meanwhile, Taylor tipped a shot by Saint Rose sophomore midfielder Christina Cuffari over the crossbar in the opening 15 minutes as both netminders kept their respective squads within striking distance.
