SYRACUSE – The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team dug itself out of a 2-0 hole by winning sets three and four. However, host Le Moyne College pulled off a 15-11 triumph in the fifth and deciding set en route to a 3-2 (23-25, 10-25, 25-21, 25-23, 11-15) Northeast-10 Conference victory over the Golden Knights this evening.
The Dolphins (11-4/3-2 NE-10), who have won six of their last eight matches, hit .240 throughout the final set by recording eight kills in 25 attempts with a mere two attack errors. Conversely, Saint Rose (10-8/1-5 NE-10) was credited with seven kills in 31 attempts with five miscues for an .065 hitting percentage, which proved to be the difference. It also marked the fourth time this season the Golden Knights have gone the distance, dropping three of those decisions (1-3).

Sarah Kahrs led all players with 16 kills for Saint Rose. Junior middle hitter
Kelly Ryan also reached double-figures in kills with 10 to pace the offense.
Defensively, senior libero
Mary German kept the Golden Knights alive behind 29 digs. She also dished out three assists and served up three aces. Additionally, sophomore setter
Theresa Staulo hit .714, recorded 37 assists and five kills; and came up with three digs.
Meanwhile, Le Moyne had four players register double-digit dig totals, two of which wound up in double-figures in kills as well. Senior outside hitter Elizabeth Cheek finished with 18 digs and 15 kills. Junior outside hitter Krista Prentice chipped in with 12 digs and 10 kills, while freshman middle hitter Morgan McDermott hit .550 on the strength of 13 kills on 20 total attacks with two errors.
Saint Rose, which has dropped five of its last six matches, is scheduled to close out a five-match road trip this Saturday. The Golden Knights will meet Southern Connecticut State University at noon, before playing a non-league contest versus Bridgeport University at 2:00 pm. Both matches will take place in New Haven, CT. The Dolphins are also on the road Saturday when they head to the University of New Haven for a 5:00 pm league date.
