SAINT ROSE MOVES AHEAD ONE SPOT TO #2 IN THE NATION

Junior midfielder Amanda Deck has three game-winning goals for the undefeated Golden Knights this season.
ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose has moved ahead one spot to #2 in the latest NSCAA/Adidas Division II Poll that was released earlier today. It marks the highest in-season ranking for the Golden Knights (11-0-0/8-0-0 NE-10) who stood at #3 for the previous four weeks. Saint Rose was also #3 the week of October 23, 2007.

West Florida (11-0), which defeated Saint Rose in an NCAA Tournament national semifinal game last season, moved into the top spot after previous top-ranked and defending national champion Seattle Pacific, WA (10-1) fell to #5 following Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Western Washington. Columbus State, GA (10-0-1) moved up two positions to #3, while Grand Valley State, MI (10-0-2) remained at #4.

Meanwhile, Northeast-10 Conference rival Franklin Pierce (10-2) jumped up two spots in the poll from #14 to #12. The Ravens are scheduled to arrive in Albany to face Saint Rose on Saturday at 1:00 pm.

The Golden Knights (11-0/8-0 NE-10) are coming off of last Saturday's 1-0 NE-10 victory at Bentley. Saint Rose, which is eighth in the country behind a league best 0.27 goals-against-average, has shutout each of its last five opponents and has outscored its 11 foes by a 22-3 margin thus far. The Golden Knights have furthermore outshot their adversaries by a 162-60 differential and have generated 73 corner kicks, while yielding a mere 18.

A total of 15 players have found the scoring column to form a balanced attack. Junior All-American midfielder Amanda Deck paces the scoring parade with four markers and an assist. Three of her tallies have gone for game-winners. Sophomore forward Nicola D'Errico is right behind her with three goals and a pair of assists. Meanwhile, sophomore keeper Susan Cowan and junior Deanna Esposito are 1-2 in the NE-10 in both GAA and save percentage. Cowan owns a 0.17 GAA and a .933 save percentage, while Esposito's numbers are 0.39 and .920 respectively.

Saint Rose puts its unblemished record on the line today with a 4:15 pm home league encounter versus Assumption.
