ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose converted a pair of corner kicks to keep its unblemished record intact with a 3-1 victory against visiting Northeast-10 Conference rival Assumption this afternoon. The Golden Knights (12-0/9-0 NE-10), who jumped one spot to #2 in the most recent
NSCAA/Adidas Division II Poll that was released earlier today, generated a 16-6 shot advantage and produced 11 corner opportunities, while yielding a mere three.

Christina Cuffari set up the final two Saint Rose markers by delivering a pair of well-placed corners.

Susan Cowan made five saves throughout the opening 71 minutes to run her record to 5-0 on the season. Senior
Shannon Murphy did not need to make a save, but roamed the box with authority the rest of the way. Meanwhile, junior Lauren Keating turned aside three shots on target for Assumption (5-5/5-4 NE-10).
The Golden Knights controlled the majority of play from the opening kickoff, which initially paid off at the 19:04 mark after Gianna D'Errico made a nifty run down the right flank and delivered a cross through the box that her twin sister Nicola D'Errico deflected home for her fourth goal of the year.

Kimberly Morton found the top left shelf with a header from a Cuffari corner that turned out to be the game-winner.
Assumption eventually struck with 12 minutes elapsed in the second period, which snapped a 510 minute Saint Rose shutout streak. Junior back Kelsey Abelein sent in a free kick from beyond the right side of the penalty area that sophomore back Cat Pangiarella touched home to make it a 2-1 affair.
However, the Golden Knights gave themselves some breathing room just six minutes later when Gianna D'Errico found the back of the net courtesy of another Cuffari corner.
Up next, Saint Rose has arguably its biggest game of the year Saturday when the Golden Knights welcome #12 and NE-10 rival Franklin Pierce. Meanwhile, the Greyhounds have a home 7:00 pm date versus American International Friday.
