LATE GOAL DOOMS GOLDEN KNIGHTS

Sophomore keeper Patrik Ohlsson stopped seven shots to keep Saint Rose in the game
ALBANY – Bentley University freshman back Weston Zeiner headed home a cross in the 89th minute that allowed the visiting Falcons to come away with a 1-0 Northeast-10 Conference victory over The College of Saint Rose men's soccer team this afternoon at The Albany Academies. It marked the third one goal decision for the Golden Knights (2-9/1-6 NE-10) in their last five outings.

Bentley (4-5-1/4-1-1 NE-10), which won for just the second time in eight games, came up with an unlikely goal in the waning moments when Zeiner's header found an open net. Saint Rose sophomore keeper Patrik Ohlsson came off his line to play the ball away. However, sophomore midfielder Eric Heuze got a touch on the ball and lifted it to the middle of the goalie box where Zeiner was there for his third tally of the year.

The Golden Knights nearly broke what was a 0-0 ballgame in the 88th minute. Freshman midfielder Giancarlo Montenegro put a shot on goal from the right channel that flew just high of the net. It was a mere 84 seconds later that Zeiner sealed things for the Falcons.

Saint Rose held a slim 10-9 edge in shots, the seventh time in 11 contests this season the Golden Knights have out shot their opponents. Ohlsson wound up making seven saves, while senior keeper Michael Nikiforov stopped five shots for Bentley.

Both clubs return to action Tuesday night in a pair of NE-10 encounters. Saint Rose heads to Assumption College for a 7:00 pm league contest, while the Falcons host UMass Lowell at 3:30 pm in another conference meeting.
