SAINT ROSE STAYS AT #2 IN THE NATION

ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose remained at #2 for the fourth consecutive week according to the latest NSCAA/Adidas Division II Poll that was released earlier today. It once again marks the highest in-season ranking for the Golden Knights (17-0/14-0 NE-10) who were listed #3 throughout four previous weeks after opening the year at #4.

West Florida (16-0), which defeated Saint Rose in an NCAA Tournament national semifinal game last season, stayed atop the poll; but the rest of the top-five was altered considerably from a week ago. Grand Valley State, MI (15-0-2) jumped three spots to #3 while Metro State, CO (17-1) moved ahead to #4 from #6. Finally, West Chester, PA (14-1-1) made the biggest move. The Golden Rams are standing at #5, after being listed #8 seven days ago.

Northeast-10 Conference rival UMass Lowell (11-3-3) fell eight positions from #15 to #23 following Saturday's 1-0 (2OT) setback to the Golden Knights in Albany. Meanwhile, Franklin Pierce jumped back into the poll for the first time since October 6. The Ravens (14-3-1) are ranked #22. They have lost only once in their last 14 matches, a 2-0 road defeat at the hands of Saint Rose back on October 10.

The Golden Knights possess a balanced attack. Eighteen different players have figured in the scoring column, including 14 who have recorded at least one goal. Saint Rose has additionally shutout 10 of its last 11 opponents and has allowed a mere four goals all year, none in the first half. The Golden Knights furthermore stand second in the nation (NCAA II) with a 0.23 goals-against-average and are one of only two (West Florida) unbeaten or untied teams.

Junior midfielder Amanda Deck and sophomore forward Gianna D'Errico have produced a team-leading 14 points with five goals and four assists apiece. Sophomore forward Nicola D'Errico, Gianna's twin, is on their heels with 13 points behind five strikes and three helpers. Sophomore midfielder Christina Cuffari is also in double-figures scoring. Cuffari, who registered a team-leading eight goals as a freshman, has three goals and four assists for 10 points this autumn.

Between the posts, sophomore keeper Susan Cowan leads the NE-10 with a 0.19 GAA and a 0.938 save percentage. Junior backs Katie Whiting, Kelly Guerin and Coco Ebersole anchor a defense, along with freshman Meagan McKinney, that has surrendered a mere 28 corner kicks and 60 shots-on-target.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose takes aim at putting the finishing touches on an unblemished regular season tomorrow when the Golden Knights face upstate rival Le Moyne. Kickoff is set for 4:00 pm in Syracuse.
