SAINT ROSE REMAINS AT #2 IN THE COUNTRY

The Golden Knights are ranked #2 in the nation for the third consecutive week.
ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose remained at #2 for the third consecutive week according to the latest NSCAA/Adidas Division II Poll that was released earlier today. It once again marks the highest in-season ranking for the Golden Knights (15-0-0/12-0-0 NE-10) who were listed #3 throughout four previous weeks after opening the year at #4.

The top-five in the poll are a repeat from last week. West Florida (14-0), which defeated Saint Rose in an NCAA Tournament national semifinal game last season, stayed atop the poll; while Columbus State, GA (11-0-1) remained at #3 followed by defending national champion Seattle Pacific, WA (13-1) and Grand Valley State, MI (14-0-2).

Meanwhile, Northeast-10 Conference rival UMass Lowell (11-2-3) moved ahead four places to #15 after debuting at #19 last week. The River Hawks are scheduled to arrive in Albany to face Saint Rose this Saturday at 1:00 pm.

The Golden Knights are primarily defined by their balanced attack. Sixteen different players have figured in the scoring column, including 13 who have recorded at least one goal. Saint Rose has additionally shutout eight of its last nine opponents and has allowed a mere four goals all year, none in the first half. The Golden Knights furthermore stand fourth in the nation (NCAA II) with a 0.27 goals-against-average and are one of only two (West Florida) unbeaten or untied teams.

Junior midfielder Amanda Deck and sophomore forward Gianna D'Errico both have produced a team-leading 12 points. Deck has five goals, including four game-winners, to go along with a pair of assists; while D'Errico has four strikes and a team-best four assists to her credit.

In goal, sophomore keeper Susan Cowan leads the NE-10 with a 0.22 GAA and a 0.923 save percentage. Junior backs Katie Whiting, Kelly Guerin and Coco Ebersole anchor a defense, along with freshman Meagan McKinney, that has surrendered a mere 23 corner kicks and 52 shots-on-goal.

Looking ahead, Saint Rose puts it school record 15-game win streak on the line today with a 4:15 pm home match versus Pace University at The Albany Academies. The team's senior class will be recognized during a brief pregame ceremony as part of “Senior Day” festivities.
