ALBANY – Five players registered at least four kills as The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team earned it second straight sweep via a 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-18) Northeast-10 Conference triumph over Saint Michael's College today at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Golden Knights, who swept Saint Anselm less than 24 hours ago, hit .284 and served up 11 aces to hand the Purple Knights (5-13/1-10 NE-10) their eighth consecutive setback.
Sophomore outside hitter
Sarah Kahrs paced the Saint Rose (12-10/3-6 NE-10) attack for the second match in a row behind nine kills and a .350 hitting percentage. Kahrs also contributed five digs. Junior outside hitter

Kelly Ryan added five kills apiece.

Theresa Staulo spearheaded the defensive unit for the Golden Knights with 16 and nine digs respectively. Staulo also passed out 28 assists and hit .571 with four kills and no attack errors in seven swings.
Saint Michael's received a team-high eight kills from junior middle hitter Lindsey Frazier. Frazier, who hit .316 in the match, also produced two digs and three blocks. Meanwhile, freshman outside hitter Katie Walsh contributed 20 assists, seven digs and a pair of kills.
The Purple Knights nearly overcame a 24-19 deficit in the first set. A Saint Rose service and attack error combined with a Frazier kill and an ace by senior libero Kelly Garthwait made it a 24-23 affair, thus forcing a Golden Knights' timeout. Ryan and senior right side hitter
Jaclyn Griffin then put up a big block at the net to propel Saint Rose to a 25-23 decision in the opener.
The second set saw the Golden Knights jump out to a 17-10 lead and never look back. Saint Rose hit .351 during the frame with 15 kills and a mere two errors in 37 total attacks. Kahrs accounted for seven of her nine kills in the second set to lead the Golden Knights to a 25-16 win.
In the third set, freshman outside hitter
Kayleigh Quinn snapped a 16-16 tie with a kill that was set up by Staulo and Saint Rose never trailed the rest of the way. The Golden Knights also took advantage of seven attack errors and three service errors by Saint Michael's to come away with the decisive 25-18 triumph.
Saint Rose has a few days to prepare for its next league match. The Golden Knights travel to Pace University Wednesday for a 7:00 pm date in Pleasantville. The Purple Knights continue their New York swing tomorrow when they head to Syracuse for 1:00 NE-10 match at Le Moyne College.
