#2 SAINT ROSE CHALKS UP 10TH SHUTOUT OF THE YEAR

Junior back Coco Ebersole scored her second career goal in the 63rd minute tonight
SPRINGFIELD, MA – The College of Saint Rose women's soccer team continued its fine defensive play by collecting its 10th shutout of the year on the strength of a 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference victory at American International College this evening. The Golden Knights, ranked #2 in the latest NSCAA/Adidas Division II Poll, have now taken each of the past 10 meetings against the Yellow Jackets (6-8-1/3-8-1 NE-10).

Saint Rose (14-0/11-0 NE-10) put up what proved to be the game-winner just 2:44 into the contest when junior All-American midfielder Amanda Deck converted a penalty kick. It was Deck's team-leading fifth marker of the year and also her fourth game-winning tally.

The Golden Knights held a slim 5-4 edge in shots and a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks throughout the first 45 minutes. However, Saint Rose controlled play a bit more in the second stanza by generating a 13-4 margin in shots and earning three corners as opposed to none for AIC.

It was in the second half that the Golden Knights managed to add an insurance goal. Sophomore forward Gianna D'Errico fed junior midfielder Coco Ebersole at the 62:50 mark to give Saint Rose a comfortable 2-0 lead. It marked D'Errico's fourth helper of the season, which paces the squad, and was the second strike of Ebersole's career.

Sophomore keeper Susan Cowan made three stops for the Golden Knights throughout the first 75:31 of action. Senior keeper Shannon Murphy did not need to make a save during the final 14:29 of play to preserve the clean sheet for Saint Rose. AIC senior netminder Kara Potts made eight saves in the contest.

Saint Rose, which is one of two (#1 West Florida) unbeaten or untied NCAA II clubs, continues its mild two game road trip Saturday when the Golden Knights head to Southern New Hampshire University for a 1:00 pm league match in Manchester, NH. Meanwhile, AIC is scheduled to entertain Saint Michael's College at 1:00 pm Saturday in another NE-10 affair.
