WORCESTER, MA – Both teams scored within the opening 20 minutes, but neither was able to find the back of the net throughout the next 90 as host Assumption and The College of Saint Rose played to a 1-1 draw in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action tonight.
Freshman forward Gianna D'Errico celebrated the return to her native area with her third goal of the year for Saint Rose, which is ranked #18 in this week's
NSCAA/Adidas NCAA Division II National Poll. D'Errico struck in the 10th minute when she outmaneuvered her defender and slipped home a shot inside the right post.
Assumption countered in the 20th minute after junior midfielder Kelley Dewalt deflected home a free kick off the foot of sophomore midfielder Sasha Sarmento.
The Golden Knights (5-2-1/3-1-1 NE-10) outshot the host Greyhounds by a 17-13 margin, including 8-2 in the second half, and generated eight corner kicks, while yielding only two. Sophomore midfielder
Amanda Deck generated the most lethal chance when she booted a shot off the crossbar in the 84th minute.
Assumption (3-4-1/1-3-1 NE-10) sophomore keeper Lauren Keating recorded five of her eight saves in the second stanza to prevent Saint Rose from potting the game-winner. Junior keeper

Saint Rose visits Merrimack for a key league contest Saturday in North Andover, MA. Kickoff is set for 6:30 pm. Meanwhile, Assumption hosts conference rival New Haven at 1:00 pm Sunday.
