WORCESTER, MA – The College of Saint Rose women's soccer team bounced back from a season-opening loss on Friday with an impressive 2-0 victory over Georgian Court this afternoon in the final day of the Nike Classic at Assumption College. The ninth-ranked Golden Knights (1-1) held a 30-3 margin in shots and a 13-2 edge in corner kicks to come away with their first shutout of 2008.

Freshman midfielder
Christina Cuffari made her presence felt 21 minutes into the second half by coming off the bench to deliver her first collegiate marker for the Golden Knights. Cuffari had entered the contest just 10 minutes earlier before scoring the unassisted goal.

Jillian Lyons each played one half in the net and were not called upon to make a save. Meanwhile, junior keeper Lindsay Hammond stopped 10 shots for the Lions.
Saint Rose will spend the next week preparing for a non-conference match at Adelphi. Kick off is set for 2:00 pm Sunday in Garden City, NY. Georgian Court will return home to host Bloomfield at 4:30 pm Thursday in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game.
