WORCESTER, MA – The College of Saint Rose dropped its first season-opener this decade with a 2-1 setback to 15th ranked C.W. Post on the first day of the Nike Classic at Assumption College this afternoon. The Golden Knights (0-1) outshot the Pioneers (1-0) by a 13-7 margin, but C.W. Post made two first half tallies stand up en route to the win.

Sophomore midfielder Jackie Sousa made it a 1-0 game midway through the first half for C.W. Post, before senior forward Maria Sonnerborg tallied with what held up as the game-winner with less than five minutes to go in the half.

Shannon Murphy made a save in each period for the Golden Knights, while C.W. Post sophomore Deanna Esposito came up with five saves to preserve the victory for the Pioneers.
Saint Rose and C.W. Post will return to Worcester on Sunday for the final day of the Nike Classic. The Golden Knights will meet Georgian Court at 1:00 pm, while C.W. Post will meet host Assumption at 4:00 pm.
