SAINT ROSE SUFFERS 1-0 SETBACK AT SAINT MICHAEL'S

Patrik Ohlsson
COLCHESTER, VT – Host Saint Michael's needed only 27 seconds to put on the board what held up as the game-winner as the Purple Knights (6-6-1/3-4-1 NE-10) handed The College of Saint Rose a 1-0 setback in Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon.

Senior midfielder Scott Hinman set up sophomore forward Rob Pierce for the strike, which goes down as the fastest-goal in Purple Knights' history, breaking the previous mark of 31 seconds held by Jerrod Hall '06.

The two clubs had five shots apiece in the first half, but Saint Rose (1-10-1/0-8-1 NE-10) could only put one of its eight shots on target throughout the afternoon. The Golden Knights also generated a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Freshman keeper Patrik Ohlsson came up with five saves for Saint Rose, while junior Jason Burnett  stopped one shot en route to his third shutout of the year for the Purple Knights, who have now won two straight after dropping their previous three outings.

Both teams return to action with league matches Saturday. The Golden Knights have a 1:00 pm date at UMass Lowell, while Saint Michael's host American International at 2:30 pm.
