ALBANY - The College of Saint Rose women's volleyball team dropped its fourth straight Northeast-10 Conference match this evening as Le Moyne College delivered a 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-19) victory at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
Freshman setter
Theresa Staulo was her usual solid self for the Golden Knights (12-9/5-6 NE-10) with 20 assists, a team-high seven kills, and six digs. She also hit a whopping .700 after not committing an error in 10 attempts.
Additionally, junior libero
Mary German spearheaded the defensive unit with a match-high 13 digs, while freshman middle hitter
Chelsea Tyler hit .455 with six kills and only one attack error in 11 attempts to go with three blocks.
Senior outside hitter Jodi Smith led a balanced attack for the Dolphins (13-10/6-5 NE-10) with a match-high 11 kills. She also added nine digs and a block. Sophomore outside hitter Krista Prentice, senior middle hitter Caitlin Richardson and junior outside hitter Elizabeth Cheek added eight kills apiece.
Le Moyne seized control of the first set when junior setter Kaylin Brainerd created an opportunity for Smith to give the Dolphins a 10-9 advantage. Le Moyne then outscored Saint Rose 10-3 and Prentice closed out the 25-16 victory with a kill.
The second set saw the Golden Knights take a 20-19 edge behind a kill from freshman outside hitter
Marilyn Glamack that preceded an attack error by the Dolphins. However, Le Moyne took advantage of four attack errors by Saint Rose and Prentice again punctuated a 25-22 triumph.
The final set was again decided late in the frame, only this time a pair of aces from Richardson provided the final 25-19 margin.
The Golden Knights will return to action Saturday when they host league rival Southern Connecticut State at 11:00 am, which precedes a 1:00 pm non-conference meeting versus Adelphi. The Dolphins are scheduled to host NE-10 foe Pace University at 1:00 pm Saturday in Syracuse.
