SYRACUSE, NY – The College of Saint Rose sophomore forward
Jazmine Farrell struck 12 minutes into the second half for the game's lone goal, thus allowing the Golden Knights to take a 1-0 Northeast-10 Conference victory at Le Moyne this afternoon. Saint Rose has now won eight straight on the strength of five consecutive shutouts.
Farrell recorded her team-leading sixth marker of the year after cleaning up a rebound in front of the goal mouth. Freshman midfielder
Brittany Godin started the play with a hard shot that ricocheted off the post, but Farrell did not let the opportunity go to waste after collecting the rebound and finding the back of the net.
The Dolphins (8-6-2/5-6-2 NE-10) did not make it easy for Saint Rose (12-3-1/9-2-1 NE-10) to keep them off the scoreboard throughout the final 33 minutes.
Freshman midfielder Rachel Farneti hit the crossbar at the 88:13 mark that kept Le Moyne at bay. Just 13 seconds later, Golden Knights' junior keeper
Shannon Murphy came up with a key save off a shot by sophomore forward Caitlin O'Rourke.
Saint Rose dominated the first 45 minutes by outshooting the Dolphins 11-2. The pace of play picked up throughout the second stanza, but the Golden Knights still walked away with a 23-11 advantage in shots and an 11-7 edge in corners for the match. Additionally, Murphy and Le Moyne senior keeper Amanda Abbatiello each stopped five shots for their respective clubs.
Saint Rose will host NE-10 newcomer New Haven at 1:00 pm Saturday. The Dolphins close out their NE-10 regular season slate on Saturday when they visit Stonehill. Kickoff is set for 12:00 pm in Easton, MA.
