WEST CHESTER, PA – The College of Saint Rose kept up its winning ways in impressive fashion by handing host #6 West Chester its first setback of the year with a 1-0 victory this afternoon. The Golden Knights (10-3-1) have now won five straight after outshooting the Golden Rams (9-1-3) by a 13-4 margin and generating a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Freshman forward Nicola D'Errico provided the difference by finishing off a cross from sophomore midfielder
Amanda Deck in the 81st minute. In the process, D'Errico ran her scoring streak to three games.
Junior keeper
Shannon Murphy made one save in the first half, before giving way to sophomore
Jillian Lyons who did not need to make a save throughout the final 45 minutes. Senior Hilary Smart turned aside four shots for West Chester.
The Golden Knights, who have registered at least 10 victories every year this decade, have posted four clean sheets throughout their current win streak. They are producing nearly four times more corners (38) than they are yielding (10) during that span.
Both teams are scheduled to return to conference action Saturday. Saint Rose has a 2:00 pm meeting at Stonehill in Easton, MA; while West Chester hosts PSAC rival Mansfield at noon.
