Tim Robbins was the head men’s lacrosse coach at The College of Saint Rose for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. He registered an 11-17 overall record and guided the Golden Knights to a winning record (7-6) in 2012, their inaugural year of intercollegiate competition.
Robbins came to Saint Rose from his alma mater Springfield College where he spent two seasons as the head assistant coach. His primary duties revolved around that of defensive and recruiting coordinator. The Pride also earned NCAA Tournament bids in both of his years, and advanced to a second-round game in 2010. That team posted the nation’s 10th ranked scoring defense and 24th ranked man-down defense with Robbins at the helm of that unit. Robbins furthermore managed the goalie and riding/clearing coach responsibilities and in the process directed a goalie that wound up 19th nationally in goals-against-average and 18th in save percentage.
Robbins was no stranger to the Capital Region. He spent the 2009 season as an assistant coach at nearby NCAA Division I Siena College where he mentored three midfield All Americans in Mark Eaton, Joe Macchi and Shawn Runyan. It also proved to be an historical campaign for the Saints who garnered their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth on the heels of a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship.
Robbins was the Co-Defensive Coordinator at Siena, which finished with the country’s second-ranked scoring defense and man-down defense in 2009. He was also responsible for developing the faceoff men and goalies, the former of which finished with the 17th ranked team faceoff winning percentage in all of NCAA Division I. Furthermore, goalie Brent Herbst earned Honorable Mention All-America honors from the USILA after finishing second in the nation with a 6.34 GAA and fourth behind a .617 save percentage.
Before that, Robbins worked for two years on film breakdown, scouting, game planning, team operations, and skill development as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Bucknell University, which advanced to the Patriot League semifinals in 2007 and the finals in 2008 when they were ranked as high as #9 in the country. Once again Robbins worked with face-off specialists and goalies, and was responsible for all in-game substitutions.
Robbins furthermore helped develop the nation’s second-ranked scoring defensive unit in 2007 while serving as a Co-Defensive Coordinator. Robbins also assisted with the development of goalie Nick Sciubba who led the nation in save percentage and GAA that season.
In the summer of 2006, Robbins served as head coach for the AAU Lax New England District 2 team that won a bronze medal at the 2006 Junior Olympics. Robbins also spent 2006 at Wheaton College as the head assistant coach and defensive coordinator. He was responsible for managing the defensive unit, recruiting student-athletes, and developing the strength and conditioning program for a squad that reached the Pilgrim League semifinals.
Robbins is a native of Northampton, MA. He has worked at multiple camps throughout the country since 2002, has coached at NCAA Division I, II, and III institutions, and has never coached a losing season.
Robbins, who is currently working towards his master’s degree in physical education, earned his bachelor’s in business management with a minor in economics in 2005 from Springfield College where he was a four-year starting midfielder and team captain. The Pride were ranked among the nation’s top-10 teams all four years and reached the NCAA Tournament in 2003, 2004, and 2005. Following his senior year, Robbins played in the 2005 East vs. West All Star Game.
Robbins was also the varsity captain for Northampton High School in 2000 and 2001, and was a first-team National High School All-American in 2001.
