Ian MacMaster

Ian MacMaster is in his sixth year as an assistant coach at The College of Saint Rose.

MacMaster previously played two seasons of varsity lacrosse at Hudson Valley Community College where he served as a team captain and earned NJCAA All-Region accolades in 2007. He then went on to play a year at The College at Brockport where he earned a bachelor’s in history in 2009, before gaining his masters in international, global, and comparative studies from the University at Albany in 2011.

MacMaster then went on to work as an assistant coach at HVCC for two years where he helped guide the Vikings to the 2012 Mountain Valley Conference Championship. He also developed offensive plays, maintained a stat book, and helped with the Vikings’ recruiting, scouting, fundraising, and community service efforts.

A United States Lacrosse member, MacMaster is also a CDLOA member for whom he officiates lacrosse games on the modified, freshman, and junior varsity levels.

In college, MacMaster worked on the student newspapers at both HVCC and The College at Brockport. He was also a Scholar Day Presenter at the latter and was honored with the President’s Award at HVCC in recognition of the one student “whose hard work, determination, hustle, and attitude enabled them to make a valuable contribution to their team, the athletics department, and the college”.
