PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose softball team was edged 2-1 and 7-5 today against Northeast-10 Conference rival Pace.
The Golden Knights were limited to three hits in game one, with their lone run coming on a fourth-inning RBI single by
Madison Chandler that scored
Ellen Fuda. Fuda and
Ciana Phillips joined Chandler in the hit column in the opener.
Game two saw Saint Rose fall behind 3-1 early before the Golden Knights plated four runs in the fifth to briefly take a 5-4 lead. Pace would go on to secure the sweep after scoring three times in the sixth and once in the seventh.
The Golden Knights big fifth inning featured a two-run double from Phillips, an RBI triple by
Kelsey Higgins, and a run-scoring single from
Maddy Bland.
Abby Behrikis, Marrisa Correra, Phillips, and Higgins all registered runs in the rally.
Higgins provided Saint Rose with its first run of game two courtesy of her NE10-leading seventh home run of the spring.
The Golden Knights will look to get back on track with a Tuesday doubleheader at home versus American International. First pitch is at 12:00 pm at Cathy Haker Field.
