WEST HAVEN, Conn.- The College of Saint Rose baseball team dropped a doubleheader to the New Haven Chargers in the first two contests of a three-game Northeast-10 Southwest Division weekend series. New Haven would win by scores of 5-4 and 9-6.
Saint Rose senior
Louis Gendron, whose .419 batting average is good for third in the conference, went 3-for-5 with three RBI in the first game of the day. He finished the double dip with four hits, five RBI and a run scored.
Senior right fielder
James Ward and junior centerfielder
Vince Venditti each had two multi-hit games for the Golden Knights. Ward went 3-for-5 in game one and 2-for4 in game twp, while Venditti went 2-for-5 in each game. Venditti and Ward combined to score six runs between the two games.
Junior righty
Chase Tucker went seven strong innings for Saint Rose in game one, giving up just three runs on seven hits.
Th Chargers scored twice in the bottom of the eighth inning to steal game one before posting a six-run fifth inning to run away with the finale.
Saint Rose and New Haven are back at Frank Vieira Field on Sunday to finish their three game series. First pitch scheduled for 12:00 pm.
