COLCHESTER, VT- The College of Saint Rose softball team finished its road trip up north with a doubleheader split at Saint Michael's.
The Golden Knights took game one 4-1 before falling 7-6 in extra innings in game two.
After Kelsey Higgins sent her ninth home run out in the first inning of the opener, the Golden Knights scored three more times in the top of the third to cap their scoring in the game one triumph.
A Maddy Bland triple scored Higgins and Ellen Fuda in the big third inning. Bland herself would come around to score on the play after a Purple Knight miscue in the field.
Fuda and Madison Chandler each logged two hits in the victory.
Fuda was one of four Golden Knights to register two or more hits one game two, as her 4-for-5 effort at the plate topped the Saint Rose lineup.
Higgins, Bland, and Marin Frazee each finished 2-for-5 with an RBI as well in the finale.
A Bland ground out in the first inning scored Cianna Phillips to get the Golden Knights going in game two. Saint Michael's got one back before Fuda, Higgins, and Bland each provided run-scoring hits in the third.
The host Purple Knights would score in the fourth and fifth innings to tie things a 4-4, a margin that held steady until the top of the 10th inning.
The Golden Knights manufactured two runs in the 10th, with a sacrifice fly by Chandler and a RBI single by Alexandra Deeter allowed Saint Rose to re-take the lead.
Saint Rose was an out away from securing the sweep before Saint Michael's received a two-run, walk-off single from Brooke Sroczinksi in the bottom of the frame.
The Golden Knights are next set to face Post in a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday in Waterbury, Conn.
