GOLDEN KNIGHTS SWEEP FINAL DAY OF ACTION IN FLORIDA

AUBURNDALE, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose softball team won its final two games on its Florida trip this afternoon. The Golden Knights first rallied to win 2-1 over Glenville State before taking down Salem University 8-0 in the day's second contest.

Trailing 1-0 in the sixth inning against Glenville State, the Golden Knights staged a sixth-inning rally which featured clutch at-bats from freshman outfielder Kelsey Higgins and senior Alexandra Deeter.

Higgins singled with the bases loaded to bring home Cianna Phillips and Deeter scored Madison Chandler with a pinch-hit sacrifice fly to put Saint Rose ahead 2-1.

Sophomore pitcher Madison Puppolo propelled the Golden Knights to the win in game two with a stellar pitching performance in the circle. Puppolo struck out five while allowing two hits in a 7.0-inning shutout effort.

Phillips, Higgins, and sophomore infielder Maddy Bland each drove in two runs for Saint Rose in the finale, while Deeter and junior catcher Ellen Fuda provided one RBI each.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights will head back North where they will next face Goldey-Beacom in a road-doubleheader on Friday, March 15.
