WINTER HAVEN, FL- Down to its final out in the seventh inning, The College of Saint Rose softball team came back from a 4-1 deficit to win 6-5 over Winona State this afternoon at The Spring Games.
The Golden Knights started the seventh down 4-0 before sophomore Hannah Smith drew a one-out bases loaded walk to get the Golden Knights on the board.
Following a Saint Rose strikeout, graduate Ciana Phillips would tie the game at 4-4 with a bases-clearing three-run double to center field.
After a walk by junior catcher Ellen Fuda walk, Madison Chandler plated both Phillips and Fuda with a double to left field to put Saint Rose ahead 6-4.Â
Winona State threatened in the bottom of the seventh, as the Warriors scored once and had the bases full when Saint Rose senior pitcher Adrian Sheeran induced a fly ball to Phillips to end the game.Â
The Golden Knights fell 8-1 to California (Pa.) in a lightening-shortened game two. The two teams had made it through the fifth inning before the game was called due to weather. Chandler provided the line run for the Golden Knights in the nightcap, as she brought home freshman Emily Reilly with a sacrifice fly.
Saint Rose will take Wednesday off before facing Upper Iowa and Grand Valley State on Thursday afternoon.
