WILSON, NC- The College of Saint Rose baseball team defeated Chestnut Hill 6-0 on Friday before falling to the Griffins 12-3 on Saturday, giving the Golden Knights a split in their first two games of the weekend at historic Fleming Stadium.
Chase Tucker struck out 10 while surrendering just one hit in 7.0 innings to earn the win on the mound for Saint Rose in game one.Â
Kenyon Motley, James Ward, and Nathan Toms all provided two hits in the game one win. Ward came around to score twice after knocking a double and a triple, while Toms had a run-scoring double and a solo home run as part of a three-RBI performance.
The Golden Knights also received a solo blast from Vince Venditti.Â
Saint Rose was unable to contain the Chestnut Hill bats in Saturday's game two, as the Griffins scored runs in their first seven innings up to bat.
Venditti and Louis Gendron each logged a multi-hit effort, while Gendron and Ryan Deo drove in runs for the Golden Knights in the setback.
Saint Rose will wrap up this weekend's action in Fleming Stadium with a pair of games against West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday.
