ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose men's basketball team dropped an 87-78 meeting to Southern Connecticut State this afternoon. The visiting Owls knocked down 10-of-18 (55.6 percent) from behind the arc to seal the Northeast-10 Conference victory.
Junior forward
Ata Turgut finished 5-for-5 from deep as part of a 26-point scoring outburst. Junior guard
Tristian Jeffries had a strong night offensively as well with 22. Both Turgut and Jeffries also hauled in seven rebounds apiece in the setback.Â
Frehsman guard
Christian Pierre-Louis tallied 14 points and six rebounds, while junior forward
Nuha Sagnia had nine points and a team-high 10 boards. Freshman guard
Dante Weise added seven points, four rebounds, and six assists.
In addition to their shooting success for long-range, the Owls feasted on 20 turnovers committed by the Golden Knights. Southern Connecticut State registered 17 steals, which resulted in 24 points. SCSU also outscored Saint Rose 11-0 off the bench.
Looking ahead, Saint Rose will look to get on track against Saint Michael's on Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm in Colchester, VT.
