MANCHESTER, NH.- The College of Saint Rose men's basketball team could not overcome a big second half from Southern New Hampshire tonight, as the host Penmen took a 78-70 win in the Northeast-10 Conference regular-season finale.
After the Golden Knights held a 34-28 lead following the opening 20 minutes, the Penmen would make 19-of-28 of their shots (67.9 percent) in the second half to slingshot ahead for the victory.
Freshman guard Trey Boyd III finished with 20 points, while junior guard Tristian Jeffries provided 16 points and a team-best eight rebounds.Â
Junior forward Nuha Sagnia had 10 points, seven rebounds, and two steals, and freshman guard Dante Weise had seven points, five boards, and four assists.
Alex Rivera and Preston Santos scored 27 and 25 points, respectively, to lead SNHU to the win. The pair combined to shot 20-of-29 from the field. Santos also had nine rebounds and four assists.
With an 8-14 record in league play, the Golden Knights will enter the conference postseason tournament as the nine seed, where Saint Rose will square off at Assumption in the first round of the playoffs. Tip-off is set for Friday at 7:00 pm in Worcester, Mass.
