WALTHAM, Mass.- The College of Saint Rose men's basketball team suffered an 86-66 setback at Northeast-10 Conference rival Bentley today.
Freshman guard
Trey Boyd III finished with a team-best 14 points to lead a group of four Golden Knights that each finished in double-figures. Junior
Ata Turgut tallied 13 points and five rebounds, while junior guard
Tristian Jeffries recorded 12 points and six boards. Freshman guard Christian Pieree-Louis added 10 points and five rebounds.
The Golden Knights also received seven points from
Adam Myers and six rebounds from junior foreard
Nuha Sagnia. Boyd III and Pierre-Louis were both active on the defensive side as well with two steals apiece.
Saint Rose would hang in this one early, as the Golden Knights trailed 30-28 after a first half that featured 12 lead changes between the two sides. Bentley would pull away after scoring 28 of the first 35 points to start the second half.
The Falcons led by as much as 32 in the contest after shooting 22-of-26 (66.1 percent) from the field after halftime. Bentley shot 68 percent from three (13-of-19) in the final 20 minutes.
Both squads are back in action with 7:30 pm league games on Wednesday night. Saint Rose will be back in Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium to face Saint Anselm, while the Falcons travel to Saint Michael's.
