ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose women's basketball claimed a key Northeast-10 Conference victory today against Pace on Hoops 4 Hope Day in Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. The Golden Knights scored 10 of the first 12 points to jump ahead early as Saint Rose never trailed throughout the entirety of the 71-57 win.
Junior guard
Syrita Faraj led a group of five Golden Knights in double-figures. Faraj had 18 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore forward
Aniya McDonald-Perry recorded a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double.
Junior forward
Maddisyn Mahoney, junior guard
Catherine Finnerty, and sophomore guard
Payton Graber would each tally 10 points, with Graber hauling in nine boards as well.
Saint Rose found their stroke in the first half, as the Golden Knights shot 16-of-26 (61.5 percent) across the first and second quarters to take a 47-34 lead into the break.Â
The Golden Knights relied on their trademark defense to close things out. The Setters offense sputtered throughout much of the evening, however only six field goals from Pace in the second half allowed the Golden Knights advantage to balloon to as much as 20 in the fourth quarter.
The two squads are back in action with 5:30 pm road matchups on Tuesday night. The Golden Knights travel to Rindge, NH to take on Franklin Pierce, while Pace heads to Long Island to face Adelphi.
