ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose men's basketball team erased a 13-point deficit to defeat the Pace Setters in an Northeast-10 Conference clash at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium today.
Ata Tugut led the way for the Golden Knights, pouring in a season high 28 points, with 18 of those coming in the second half. Saint Rose closed the game on a 13-2 run over the final 4:30 to complete the comeback win.Â
Tied late in the final minute, freshman guard
Trey Boyd III knocked down a jumper in the paint with 19 seconds on the clock to put Saint Rose up 73-71. A free throw by Turgut and a steal by graduate guard Tristian Jefferies in the closing seconds sealed the win for the Golden Knights.Â
Pace took a 13 point lead with 2:30 left in the first half on a layup by forward Jaden Kealey, however the Golden Knights trimmed the deficit down to eight after the first 20 minutes of place
Saint Rose fought their way back in the second half and eventually took the lead as Boyd III knocked down three free throws to put Saint Rose up 71-69. Boyd III scored 7 of the last 10 Golden Knight points down the stretch. He finished the game with 13 points.Â
Jefferies and freshman guard
Dante Weise both added 11 points for Saint Rose. Weise pulled in a team-high seven rebounds and also led the the Golden Knights with 5 assists.Â
Saint Rose is back in action on Tuesday 7:30 pm as the Golden Knights head to Rindge, NH to take on the Franklin Pierce Ravens at the Franklin Pierce Fieldhouse. Pace is back on Tuesday night as well on the road at Adelphi.
