WEST HAVEN, Conn.- The College of Saint Rose improved to 13-2 on the season with today's 50-37 victory at New Haven this afternoon. Ranking first in Division II in several defense categories, the Golden Knights limited the Chargers to 14-of-51 shooting (27.5 percent) from the field to claim the Northeast-10 Conference road win.
Junior forward
Maddisyn Mahoney was the high-scorer with 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Mahoney also logged eight rebounds in the winning effort.
Sophomore Carter
Kaelah Carter provided nine points and five rebounds and junior guard
Syrita Faraj tallied eight points and four boards for the Golden Knights.
Aniya McDonald-Perry,
Catherine Finnerty, and
Harmony Philo registered six points apiece. Finnerty led the Golden Knights with nine rebounds, while McDonald-Perry pulled down seven boards. The Golden Knights finished with a 41-29 advantage on the glass over New Haven.
Saint Rose established a double-digit first-half lead after netting 23 points in the second quarter. The Golden Knights shot 9-of-16 in the game-changing frame, with Mahoney scoring seven of her 11 points in the period. Philo knocked down a pair of three-pointers as well in the second.
The Golden Knights led by as much as 18 points in the second half as the Chargers were limited to four or less field goals in each quarter this afternoon.Â
Both teams hit the road for 5:30 pm contests on Wednesday night. Saint Rose heads to Worcester, Mass. to challenge Assumption in a key NE10 meeting, while New Haven travels to Pace.
