ALBANY, N.Y.- The College of Saint Rose survived a second-half push from Saint Anselm to claim a 50-43 Northeast-10 Conference victory inside Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium tonight.
Junior guard
Syrita Faraj topped the Golden Knights with 14 points, while junior forward
Maddisyn Mahoney tallied 11 points to go alongside nine boards.Â
Sophomore forward
Aniya McDonald-Perry finished with nine points, three steals, and a game-high 11 rebounds. Junior guard
Catherine Finnerty added eight points to the offensive effort as well.
After leading by seven at halftime, the Golden Knights saw Hawks guard Tatum Forbes score 13 of the first 16 points of the third quarter to put the visitors ahead midway through the period.
The action remained level until the early stages of the fourth when the Golden Knights utilized an 8-0 run to jump ahead 43-35 with 5:21 remaining. The Hawks would respond with six of the next eight points to cut the deficit down to four, however that would be the closest the margin would get before the final buzzer.
Forbes led Saint Anselm with 23 points, seven rebounds, and five steals in the setback.
Both teams are on the road at 1:30 pm on Saturday for their next league contest. The Golden Knights head to Long Island to face Adelphi, while the Hawks travel to New Haven.
